Day 18 – Healthy Thinking Tip

 

What do you say to yourself when you wake up in the morning? Do you give thanks just for waking up and being able to live another day. Are you grateful and joyful for positive aspects of your life, like family, friends, health, the ability to work, having a job, house, car, etc. Or, do you have that common conversation about having another 5 minutes in bed, is it time to get up already, about how tired you are/feel? The way you wake up and the conversation you have with yourself can affect the rest of your day. Pressing the snooze button or turning over for another 5 minutes can often make you late, cause you stress and affect your mood before you have even left the house. Constantly thinking that you are tired and telling yourself you are will cause you to focus on being tired and make you feel even more tired. Try a change of tack. Set your ‘waking up strategy’ the night before and tell yourself how you are going to wake up, what you are doing to do and what conversation you will have with yourself when you awake. Make it a positive one and start your day on an uplifting and energized note!
